Sick Vincent Browne can't afford to give up his TV3 job despite several health scares

Sick Vincent Browne has admitted he can’t afford to give up his TV3 job – despite suffering from bronchitis.

The cash-strapped Tonight With Vincent Browne has been off air as he battled pneumonia but needs to keep working.

He has been left financially broken after the extreme failure of his current affairs magazine.

He said: “I’ve had bronchitis for years. I was told I had to do things about it and I didn’t do it.

“Eventually I had a bronchoscopy. I was warned in advance it could go wrong and cause trouble and it did.

“I still didn’t pay any attention. I got an infection and I got pneumonia as a consequence of this and I didn’t realise I had pneumonia.”

And asked if he needed to work, Vincent said: “I do absolutely. I’d be in serious financial trouble were it not for the fact I’ve got this contract with TV3.

“I did it for a number of reasons. Firstly I thought it might be worthwhile.

“Secondly because I thought it would give me an outlet beyond the time the Irish Times would get rid of me, and also because I thought it would give me a pension.”

Yesterday, Goss.ie told how Vincent was furious at Pat Kenny – claiming the ex-RTE star used stooges in his shows.
