RuPaul’s Drag Race makes Emmys history by winning award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Series

RuPaul’s Drag Race has made Emmys history as it won the award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Series.

The reality show joined an elite list of winners, as only three shows have previously won the award since the category was introduced in 2003.

RuPaul also won an Emmy for Best Reality Host and gave an emotional speech before he said his famous catchphrase from the show.

“Thank you to the Academy. This is so lovely. We are so happy to present this show. I would like to thank, on behalf of the 140 drag queens we have released into the wild,” the 57-year-old said.

“Listen… If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an amen up in here? Now let the music play!” RuPaul stated, as the crowd cheered for the drag icon and his team.
