RTE look to sell Love/Hate around the world – with America first on the hitlist

RTE are set to try and sell Love/Hate across the world this year – and won’t give up until America buys it.

The State broadcaster will be taking all five seasons of the show across to TV industry fair MIPCOM in Cannes with the hope of offloading it.

Sources told Goss.ie that there is already interest in acquiring the gangland series, after it performed well in Scotland and the UK.

Bosses are also in a “strong position” being able to trumpet that more than half of the nation are watching the episodes.

RTE TV head Glen Killane said: “We think we’re in a really strong position. We have 28 episodes of television that has been acclaimed in Ireland and it come of the other territories it has been shown in.

“The fact that 56% of the audience watch it is likely to make it all that more appealing.

“It we can interest one of the big US networks in it, I think it will go on to a whole different level commercially.”

Previously Love/Hate creator Stuart Carolan was offered a deal to move to the US and write his own show – but he refused to continue the RTE series.
