Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby finally respond to rumours of a rift between them

The co-hosts have worked together for 10 years

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have finally responded to rumours of a rift between them.

Over the weekend, The Sun claimed their relationship had become “strained” in recent months.

However, the This Morning co-hosts have since insisted that there’s no truth to the rumour.

Speaking to Newsbeat at the launch of Dancing on Ice 2020, Holly said it would be “impossible” to do their job without “getting along.”

“You couldn’t do the amount of hours of TV that we do with each other without getting on,” she said, and pointed out that they even go on family holidays together.

Phillip also said: “We have such a laugh. We’re best mates, she’s like the sister I never had. I just adore working with her, she’s just perfect.”

The news comes after ITV slammed reports that Phil and Holly are feuding.

This Morning editor, Martin Frazell, said: “We have the smartest viewers watching telly and believe me they would be the first to notice any issues — they haven’t because there are none.”

An ITV spokesperson also added: “It’s deeply disappointing and unfair for Phillip to be the target of this sort of malicious gossip.”

“Phillip is a much respected broadcaster and colleague and this is absolutely not a description of This Morning that we recognise.”

“Holly and Phil are great friends both on and off screen and are popular among viewers and colleagues alike.”
