Peaky Blinders has FINALLY started filming it’s fifth series

The BBC show is set to return early next year

Peaky Blinders has finally started filming it’s fifth season.

According to a Cillian Murpy fan account on Instagram, the BBC gangster drama started shooting the fifth series on Monday.

The account announced the news by posting a snap of Cillian Murphy dressed as his character, Thomas Shelby.

The captioned the post: “PEAKY NEWS! S5 filming starts tomorrow, Sept 17. The series is expected to air in Spring 2019 on BBC1.”

The news comes after Peaky Blinders creator Steven confirmed that the show will come to an end after the seventh season.

Back in May, Steven told Digital Spy: “My ambition is to make it a story of a family between two wars, so always I’ve wanted to end it with the first air raid siren in Birmingham in 1939. It’ll take three more series [to reach that point].”

The fifth season will air on BBC Two in 2019, and is also set to be released on Netflix.
