Ofcom have received complaints, after viewers slammed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here for ‘exploiting’ Anne Hegerty during last night’s episode.

The Chase star, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, faced her first bush tucker trial in Tuesday night’s episode – and viewers were left concerned for her wellbeing.

In the Monstrous Monoliths trial, a visibly distressed Anne managed to secure two stars, but then declared, “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. I can’t do it. I’m so sorry.”

According to The Sun, Ofcom have so far received two complaints regarding the scenes.

The regulator will asses the complaints, and if they decide ITV has broken any broadcasting rules, they’re obliged to investigate the issue.

The news comes amid fears that Anne will walk from the jungle, as she’s reportedly near breaking point and ready to quit.

A source said: “She was distressed after the first day and found it a bit much. Producers wanted to ensure she was fine, so have been checking in with her.”

“They didn’t want to push her too soon and were pleased teammates rallied round her. She’s explained her autism means she struggles in some social situations and can need a timeout. Producers want to ensure she has space. Her wellbeing is of the utmost importance.”

Meanwhile, Anne’s manager David Hahn told the paper: “She’s in very good hands there. When she said she was doing the show, I asked, ‘Are you sure?’ But she wanted to inspire others with autism.”

“Anne’s lovely with a great sense of humour. If she can get through the first week, she’ll go the whole way.”
