Netflix to remake a number of Roald Dahl classics in animation series

Netflix are set to remake a number of Roald Dahl classics in an animation series.

The streaming service is preparing to recreate some of the author’s biggest stories, including as Matilda, The BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The company announced the news via Twitter, as they said: “Netflix will adapt the Roald Dahl universe of stories as a new slate of animated event series.”

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and The BFG are just a few of the titles from the author’s beloved and award-winning library that will be reimagined for a new generation”.

Production is set to begin next year and Roald’s widow, Felicity Dahl, released a statement, as she expressed her excitement for the new remakes.

“Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories,” the 79-year-old said.

“This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible, and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.”

The author died in 1990 and wrote some of the most popular children’s books in the world.
