The Mrs Brown’s Boys cast have insisted they aren’t worried about topping the Christmas ratings next year.
The TV show – which is written by Brendan O’Carroll – proved it is definitively the post popular show in the UK after topping the Xmas figures again.
Its New Year’s special – Who’s A Pretty Mammy? – pulled in 8.71 million viewers 20.3% of all people watching television on Monday after doing the same on Christmas Day.
Thumbs up: Rory Cowan was celebrating after ratings shock
But Rory Cowan, who plays Mrs Brown’s gay son Rory, admitted it will be “tough to top this next year”.
He said: “I suppose after being number one this year, they’ll probably put us on Christmas night next year.
“We just have to see what Brendan comes up with. But no matter what happens now at one time we’ve been Christmas No1.”
