Mrs. Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan has admitted he doesn’t think straight men should play camp gay characters.
The Irish actor who plays camp Rory in the BBC comedy series, said he doesn’t think straight men can pull of gay characters the right way.
“It really bothers me when I see straight people playing camp men because they don’t get it right,” he explained.
“They try their best but they just don’t get it right. It’d be like me trying to play a boxer or something really butch,” he said.

Speaking to TV Now magazine Rory, 55, said some actors can pull it off, only if they are playing themselves.
“Playing the boy next door gay character they can do, you see it in the soaps and stuff.
“If they’ve to be camp, however, they can’t do it unless they’re actually camp or gay in real life.”
