Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ festive special tops RTÉ’s Christmas ratings

Mrs. Brown’s Boys festive special has topped RTÉ’s Christmas ratings.

Brendan O’Carroll’s comedy brought in 612,000 viewers on Christmas day, with 37% of the share being of 15 to 34-year-olds.

The Christmas special was followed by The Young Offenders, which had 480,000 viewers and Fair City, with 349,000 viewers.

Last Friday’s Late Late Show and two episodes of RTÉ News also placed in the top five most-popular programmes that aired over Christmas.

The ratings release comes after Mrs. Brown’s Boys actor, Danny O’Carroll, hit out at a critic who slammed the show.
