Love/Hate's Tom Vaughan Lawlor DOESN'T want to make it big in Hollywood

Love/Hate star Tom Vaughan Lawlor has admitted he doesn’t want to make it big in Hollywood after playing Nidge.

Instead the TV actor is happy for his role in the RTE gangland series to be his career highlight – rather than becoming a worldwide name.

He said: “It’s just that weird thing, when your career is going well, people assume your career is going well, people assume you’ll go to the States.

Happy here: Tom doesn’t want major US role | RTE

“Of course I wouldn’t rule it out but at the moment I don’t feel it instinctively in me. I don’t have a burning desire to go there, I’m happy to focus on the work I’m getting here.”

And Tom revealed that he was lucky to even become gangster Nidge – after it was second on his list of preferred roles.

He said: “I auditioned for a part in London in the summer of 2009 and I didn’t get it. I was devastated, but if I had got it, I wouldn’t have been able to do Love/Hate. So it’s a great deal of luck and stars aligning.

Delighted: Tom knows role has changed his life | RTE

But Tom told the RTE Guide that he has definitely seen the show change everything for him.

He added: “This role has changed my life – the jump from being around Dublin at the end of the first season to filming the last season, has changed so much.

“The intensity and passion for the show is so massive, especially when it’s on TV. It’s so gratifying to be part of something that the public feel so connected to because it doesn’t happen every day.”
