Love/Hate's Susan Loughnane admits she was too 'horrified' to watch back brothel scenes

She played a drug addict in Love/Hate but Susan Loughnane has admitted she couldn’t handle her character being a sex worker.

The actress, who played Debbie in the award winning drama, has never watched her scenes in the brothel.

“I wasn’t uncomfortable filming any of it because I felt so protected by the people who made it. It was an incredible crew,” she said.

“They had my back the whole time. I always felt very safe, but obviously I would be horrified watching it just because it’s me.”

Tough scenes: Susan played drug addict Debbie

Despite hating the sex scenes, Susan said she misses playing Debbie and is still very attached to the character.

“I do miss it. It was a really incredible thing to have been a part of and I feel so proud to have been on it. I’m very attached to it still,” she told the Irish Independent.

Meanwhile Susan admitted she struggles as a working actor.

The actress revealed she is far from flush with cash, and said most Irish stars are in the same boat.

“There are so many people and it’s in the modelling world, it’s in the acting world, maybe even in the sports world.

“And because they are on the TV or in the limelight they won’t admit that it’s actually a struggle,” she said.

“I’m 99pc sure that there are actors and models in Ireland going around taking taxis every day who cannot afford it,” she said.

“I came in here on the DART. I’m not doing anything for money; I don’t buy fancy bags, I drive a Peugeot 206 and I never want a fancy car.”

While Susan is still big on the acting scene, she is currently promoting her first novel – The Art of Scandal.
