Love/Hate newbee Johnny Ward was 'intimidated' working with Tom Vaughan-Lawlor

Love/Hate newcomer Johnny Ward has admitted he was extremely intimidated working with Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

The Dublin actors plays Paulie – who is sent over to watch Nidge for a Spanish drug gang who has helped him out.

And the 27-year-old told Goss.ie it felt like going back to school when he first arrived on the set.

He said: “I must say the first week working with Tom was the most intimidating and most exiting thing I’ve ever done.”

“I was stunned when I first met Tom. He’s a highly established actor, it’s funny you meet him first and you think he’s going to hit you or something, but he’s not Nidge at all.”

But Johnny quickly found himself as a member of the Love/Hate family.

He added: “I was wrong there is no need to feel intimidated because they’re a lovely bunch of people and they treated me with such respect, and made me become one of the Love/Hate family.”

Johnny was one of the lucky cast members who got the chance to head over to Marbella in Spain to film some scenes – and said that was the highlight of the series.

“Going to Marbella was probably the highlight of the whole thing. We shot those scenes last,” he said.

“Myself, Lawrence [Elmo] and Tom went over and just had a great time. We were over there for about five or six days and It was brilliant. It was like a little holiday.”
