Love/Hate is flourishing in Australia – thanks to Irish immigrants' want for Nidge

Love/Hate boss Stuart Carolan has revealed the TV series is flourishing in Australia – thanks to Irish immigrants.

The RTE series is being shown by an Oz cable station, with huge numbers crowding round screens to keep up with the show.

And TV creator Start said he’s been told the gangland drama – featuring Nidge and Fran – has helped Irish people feel in touch with their native land.

Boss: Stuart doesn’t worry about figures | PATRICK O’LEARY

“There’s a channel out in Australia which shows Love/Hate. A lot of Irish there seem to be watching it,” he told the Irish Sun.

“I’m delighted, because I’m sure a lot of those kids had to leave Ireland to find work in Australia, and now they can enjoy it too. It must remind them of home.”

He won’t pray: Stuart is happy with how show is doing so far | RTE

It has emerged that 879,000 people watched Sunday’s third episode of Love/Hate, which is down from the 976,000 who tuned in to the first episode.

But Stuart, 43, insisted he doesn’t worry about the figures going up and down – as he’s still got the country’s number one show..

He added: “We always dip for the second episode, then build back up again. Anyway I don’t sweat about it. Enough people are watching. The figures are still pretty phenomenal.”
