Love Island: Ofcom will not investigate complaints over Maura’s ‘predatory’ behaviour

UK TV watchdog Ofcom will not investigate complaints regarding Love Island contestant Maura Higgin’s pursuit of fellow islander Tommy Fury.

Ofcom received over 700 complaints from the public, as many branded Maura’s behavior to be “predatory.”

Upon entering the Love Island villa, Maura began grafting the pro-boxer, and attempted to kiss him while laying on top of him despite him rebuffing her advances.

An Ofcom spokesperson revealed that the case had been assessed, and would not be investigated.

“While we recognise that many viewers disapproved of a contestant’s behaviour in this episode, we took into account the context in which it occurred, including the nature of Maura and Tommy’s relationship, before and after,” they told The Daily Mail.

A total of 709 viewers complained that Maura Higgins “sexually harassed” Tommy Fury, according to The BBC.

Hundreds of complaints were also made to the watchdog over the treatment of Lucie Donlan by the other contestants.

Lucie is currently at risk of elimination in the villa, as she an George Rain were one of three couples who received the fewest public votes.
