Love Island: Lucie opens up about her true feelings for Tommy after leaving the villa

Lucie Donlan has opened up about her feelings for Love Island co-contestant Tommy Fury.

Lucie was dumped from the island tonight, after her fellow islanders voted for her and her Casa Amor love interest George to leave the villa.

On exiting, the model and surfer shared a hug with the pro boxer. “Lucie was my first connection, she was my first crush” Tommy admitted in the Beach Hut. “I’m very very sad to see her go.”

While Lucie first coupled up with Joe, but after he left, she realized she had deep feelings for Tommy. When asked on exiting the villa how she felt about him, she said:

“Me and Tommy will always be best friends. I’ve had best friends and then dated them and then still been best friends after. I think a lot of girls think it’s odd but I can turn things on and off really easily.”

“You’ll always have a love for a best friend whether it’s a boy or a girl but at times it can mean different things.”

The surfer touched on his relationship with influencer Molly-Mae, saying: “I want to see how things go with him and Molly-Mae, I can see he really likes her. I’m happy for them.”

“I feel like we’ll see what happens on the outside and how those guys will go but never say never, if we did come to that romantic stage in a few years and me and Tommy were still friends, you never know.”

Lucie did reveal that she has no regrets about her choices in the villa.

“I don’t have any regrets about coupling up with Joe. I went with how I felt at the time.”

“I felt really strongly about him at the time. I got on with him straight away, whereas with Tommy it took time.”

Lucie’s time in the villa was marred with controversy, after many complained that her relationship with Joe showed red flags for controlling behavior. Later, she faced stinging rejection from Tommy after revealing her feelings to him, as he was committed to Molly-Mae.

She also had feelings of isolation as she struggled to maintain friendships with the female contestants at the mid point in the show – until Irish model Maura arrived, with Lucie and Maura becoming firm friends.

“She was my best friend,” Maura told Curtis after Lucie left.”

In Casa Amor, Lucie chose to couple up with George, but things did not spark romantically between them.

“After Casa Amor, I got to know George and that didn’t go how I thought it would and then I realized I liked Tommy.”

“Although I liked him romantically, he was my best friend so it was nice to see your best friend so happy. At the same time, I was a bit gutted.”
