Love Island bosses on the hunt for ‘twins, goth girls and Essex lads’ for winter version

The new series will be based in South Africa

Love Island bosses are reportedly on the hunt for “twins, goth girls and Essex lads” for the show’s brand new winter version.

ITV2 talent scouts are already casting for the new series, which will take place in South Africa in January.

One guy who was approached by a talent spotter at a Spanish pool party last week told The Sun: “I was asked if I was single and they showed me credentials from ITV2.”

“I was a bit nervous about giving my name so they then showed me an email where they’d been asked to find ‘types’. On there, it listed twins, goth girls and Essex lads.”

A source told the newspaper: “It’s no secret that contestants for the show come through a lot of different channels.”

“As well as tens of thousands of people applying through ITV’s website this year, the show accepts contestants put forward by talent scouts and agents, and producers approach people on social media too.”

This year’s series was won by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea, who were both scouted by producers through social media.

Only six people who applied for the show through the general application process were actually selected this year, out of the 36 Islanders who appeared on the show.
