Laura Whitmore is ‘petrified’ ahead of Strictly Come Dancing

Laura Whitmore has admitted that she’s “petrified” ahead of joining the line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The 31-year-old was confirmed as the first female celebrity for the 2016 BBC series  yesterday, and will join singer Will Young and politician Ed Balls on the dance floor.

Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1, Laura said, “I have watched Strictly and been obsessed with the show since series one.”

“It’s an incredible show and I feel so honoured to be asked to be a part of it. I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly petrified too.”

The blonde beauty, who previously hosted ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here… Now!, also admitted that she’s known about it for quite sometime now – but the show kept the secret under wraps by code-naming her “Lady Macbeth”.

“I’ve known for a while but it’s so secretive – you’ve got fake names and stuff.

The Bray native also revealed that Strictly bosses have tried to book her before, but schedules interfered.

“I was afraid they might not ask me again,” she said.

The identity of Laura’s professional partner hasn’t been revealed yet, but, Laura said she just wants “someone who can lift me”.
