Interview! Love/Hate's Johnny Ward: 'People thought I had DIED after Pauley's killing – but I'm back as Peter Pan'

Love/Hate star Johnny Ward has revealed people think he is actually dead – and have been writing RIP on his Facebook.

The TV star – who played bad boy Pauley on the show – was killed off two weeks ago after being pushed off a balcony by his on screen love Siobhan.

And the 27-year-old actor – who has joined the cast of Peter Pan – told Goss.ie it was a strange experience watching himself be killed off especially as people thought he had actually passed away.

“What’s weird about it is I have people writing on my Facebook wall as if I’m actually dead, and my mum ringing me up saying, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it’.

“Obviously the character at the start, a lot of people didn’t warm to him because he was quite the bad boy coming in the first one or two episodes.

“Nidge has so many fans as well and I think people thought ‘Oh who’s this new boy coming in and messing with Nidge’.

“But then you could tell that he really loved Siobhan and was falling for her, especially episodes three and four.

“People were really behind me and they wrote lovely things on my Facebook wall, but thankfully I’m not actually dead.

“It’s amazing how many people get behind it and think that it’s real, and it just goes to show what a phenomenal show it is.”

Now the Love/Hate hunk is preparing to take on a much tamer role as Peter Pan in this year’s Gaiety panto – alongside all the charity work he has been asked to do after Love/Hate.

“I’ve been getting such lovely messages on Facebook and stuff like that, I’ve had an awful lot of people writing to me. I’ve been asked to do a lot of charity work as well, so I’ll help out in any way I can,” he told Goss.ie.

“If only I had started Peter Pan rehearsals a few weeks before Love/Hate I would have been able to fly back up and get revenge on Siobhan.”

The Dublin actor also revealed his favourite part of the whole Love/Hate experience, laughing: “The bathroom scene.”

He added: “No I’d say, I’m a huge motorbike lover and I drove a Suzuki intruder 800 CC on the show which is like a cheaper version of a Harley Davidson. It’s just  phenomenal stuff to be able to do that.

“They were talking to about getting a stunt man and I said no way, I wanna drive that bike haha.”

Now Johnny is more then excited to take on his new lead role as Peter Pan this Christmas in Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre.

“I’m absolutely really really exited for Peter Pan. The fact that it’s in the Gaiety theatre as well, I was here two years ago in Cinderella and I played Buttons,” he said.

“There’s just something about this theatre that I love. I know it’s only just gone November but it feels like Christmas here.”
