Gillian Anderson: 'Nobody asks me about X Files now – all they care about is Jamie Dornan'

The Fall star Gillian Anderson has revealed that no-one cares about her former role in the X Files any more.

Instead, the Hollywood star is only asked about one thing by people on the street – co-star Jamie Dornan.

The Northern Irish actor plays DSI Stella Gibson in the BBC series – along Jamie as serial killer Paul Spector alongside Gillian’s DSI Stella Gibson in The Fall.

And Gillian, 46, said: “He’s very, very funny and good at telling stories. He’s a good mimic as well.

“He’s a lovely lad. On the first series, people were like, ‘Who is this guy? Is he an ex-model or something?’

“Now people don’t want to talk to me about The X-Files. They only ask about Jamie Dornan.”

In between takes Gillian and Jamie meet up around the Belfast set, she told Red magazine.

The American also spoke about sexism in Hollywood – admitted the pay disparity between her and X-Files co-star David Duchovny was “massive” when the started.

She added: “But that happens all the time in Hollywood. It’s, ‘Do this for me, I’ll get you a job.’

“All the stuff about people in entertainment who have abused their position… It’s built into our society.

“There are things that are intolerable in terms of the perception of women. The expectation is that, if a woman is wearing a short skirt, she’s ‘asking for it’.”
