Former I’m A Celeb campmate reveals the show has stars on stand-by for a hefty fee

Celebrities are well paid to stay in a hotel incase they're needed for the show

Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate Nicola McLean has revealed that the ITV show has celebrities on standby in case they need to send someone else into camp.

The 38-year-old model made the revelations in her column for Closer magazine.

Nicola starred on the show in 2008 alongside Simon Webb, Joe Swash and Timmy Mallet.

Nicola revealed other celebs are on standby in case one of the campmates is injured or ill.

“Aside from the two latecomers, other celebrities are a standby in case anyone gets injured or ill – but get sent home once the voting starts, as then it doesn’t matter if someone leaves,” she confessed.

“They travel first class, stay in a hotel and get paid £20,000.”

Nicola also revealed that her fellow campmate Timmy Mallet was on standby for the show for three years before he entered the jungle.

“Timmy Mallett did that for three years before he got in, but that’s rare because most don’t go in the show.”

It comes after 2019 contestant Jaqueline Jossa threatened to quit the show after Myles Stephenson allegedly claimed her husband did cheat on her with Gabby Allen.
