EXCLUSIVE: TV3 'in talks' with Tommy Tiernan, Ardal O'Hanlon and Dermot Whelan for new shows

In the same week that RTE have announced Oliver Callan will have his own show, Goss.ie can reveal TV3 are in talks with Ireland’s top comedians.

As UTV Ireland will be taking popular programming from the station this coming January, TV3 are hoping to sign deals with several Irish comedians.

“TV3 are in talks with a lot of well-known faces, they are hiring established names. With new shows, come new faces at TV3,’ a source told Goss.ie.

“TV3 are really interested in new talent, especially when it comes to comedy. They know that comedy works and there is a lot of talented people out there.

“It’s about getting the right person and giving them the chance to have their own show. Dermot was great on Republic of Telly, they are very interested in him,” the source explained.

A TV3 insider revealed that Father Ted’s Ardal O’Hanlon and former Republic of Telly host Dermot Whelan are in the mix for new shows.

“They are in talks with several well known comedians. Right now they are talking to Jason Byrne, Dermot Whelan, Ardal O’ Hanlon, Tommy Tiernan and Dara O’ Briain.”

“They are talking to the best guys in comedy and they want to focus on comedy in their new schedule, as well as their new soap.”

TV3’s much anticipated soap, based in a north Dublin coastal town, will air in January 2015, with very little detail known.

Last week TV3 revealed Brian Dowling will present a new Saturday night game show called Sitting On A Fortune.

Meanwhile RTE announced that Oliver Callan will have his own series in the new season.
