EXCLUSIVE: Fair City's Sorcha Furlong in NO hurry to leave Carrigstown – but would quit if Hollywood came calling

Fair City star Sorcha Furlong has revealed she has no plans to quit the soap – despite considering a bid to start a career abroad.

The TV actress has starred in the hit RTE soap as Orla Kirwin for the last 14 years, however wouldn’t be in a massive hurry to make the move abroad to pursue acting.

She told Goss.ie: “I suppose I’ve thought about it. I’m single and I have a four-year-old daughter and she just started school.

“What I wouldn’t do is move anywhere to try and start again, I should have done that in my late teens but I stayed here and got Fair City very early on. “

However, soap star Sorcha admitted she would consider a move if it was the right fit and Hollywood came calling.

She said: “I would go on auditions and maybe if I got offers then I could make the move, but at the moment I’m extremely happy in Carrigstown and everything else. If it was something I really wanted to do I wouldn’t say no.”

But for now Sorcha would love to work with other Irish actors such as Love/Hate’s Tom Vaughan Lawlor and Peter Coonan.

She said: “I think Tom Vaughan Lawlor is fabulous playing Nidge, so that would be amazing and Peter Coonan. There’s so many. I love going to see new plays and seeing new talent, it’s amazing.”

And Sorcha also recently set up her own production company Smart Blonde Productions.

She told Goss.ie: “We only formed 18 months ago, April 2013. We wrote our first short film and put it in for the Galway Film Fleadh, and it got selected and premiered last year. We shot it in a week and wrote it in a week.

“This year we made two short films, one premiered again at the Galway Film Fleadh, and it’s also going to be on in San Francisco at the end of the month.”
