Damo and Ivor creator Andy Quirke has revealed they had to rewrite the whole series after the death of legendary actor Rik Mayall.
The British comedian starred as Ivor’s filthy rich father for two episodes in the first series of the RTE show.
However Andy revealed he was all set to star in all six episodes of the upcoming second series before his death.
He said: “Three weeks before we were set to start filming he passed away, we had to rip the script apart.

“But we didn’t want to get another actor to play the part because he’s irreplaceable.”
And Andy told the RTE Guide he wasn’t shocked that the shock actually became successful.
Asked about the success of the show, he confessed: “I don’t want to sound cocky but I wasn’t surprised.
“Because we only made it to succeed. I get paid to do what makes me happy, my mum and maybe the teachers too are probably saying ‘Finally he gets to make a living out of all that messing he used to do.'”
