Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn has sadly passed away at the age of 77.
The actress, who played Vera Duckworth in the soap, was reportedly suffering with a lung condition.
According to the Press Association, her family released a statement saying, “We are devastated and heartbroken at the passing of our much-loved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, the incredible Liz Dawn.”
“Liz died peacefully last night at home with her loving family around her. She has been the love, light and inspiration in our lives and we are bereft at her passing.”

Liz played Vera Duckworth on Corrie for an amazing 34 years, after first appearing on the soap back in 1974.
In 2004, Liz, who smoked for 50 years, was diagnosed with incurable emphysema.
Three years later, Liz requested that her character be written out of the show – and her final scene saw Vera dying in her sleep.
