Brian Ormond: Don't blame me for the Lotto balls-up – it wasn't MY fault at all

TV star Brian Ormond has blamed everyone but himself for last night’s Lotto balls-up.

The RTE presenter was hosting the Lotto draw but it went spectacularly wrong as he was left like a rabbit in the headlights and stopped speaking completely.

But Brian – who is married to model Pippa O’Connor – has now claimed it was all his producers fault.

And the 35-year-old admitted that he thought they had actually been taken off air.

“What happened was the Main draw machine spat out the balls as we went live — I was told to stop — I actually thought we were taken off the air,” he told the Sun.

“But we were on air for a bit — I came back live eight minutes later and continued the draw.”

And Brian added on Twitter: “No I didn’t see a ghost on lotto tonight! When your told to stop ya gotta stop! Can’t beat live TV!”

The National Lottery have also backed Brian, insisting he was told to stop when the Lotto draw was activated too soon.

A spokeswoman said: “The Lotto draws usually start with the Lotto Plus 2 draw but the Lotto draw was inadvertently activated for the main draw as the first draw.

“The studio cameras are not set up to cover that so the line manager was asked to halt the broadcast in line with our procedures.”
