TV host Brian Dowling has revealed he was the inspiration behind Matt Lucas and David Walliams’ “only gave in the village” character.
The character, played by Matt Lucas became famous in hit TV show Little Britain.
“I was in Tess Daly’s house and David was in the pool. He came out and said ‘you know you’re the inspiration for the only gay in the village.’
“Because on Big Brother I wanted to be the only gay in the house,” Brian said.

“It’s pretty cool, I’m really chuffed about that.
“When I found that out I was like ‘forget winning big brother’ when I go I want that on my head stone,” he told Spin 1038.
Brian has been busy promoting TV3’s new Saturday night game show Sitting On A Fortune.
The presenter said he hopes Irish audiences will give it a chance.
“The show is like nothing I’ve seen on TV before, whether that’s the UK or Ireland. It doesn’t look like a typical Irish show.

“It’s a big production, we’ve a massive audience. I’m not vanilla so I’m there in people’s faces.
“I just hope people give the show an opportunity.
“In ireland we can play it safe, this isn’t safe, this is really out there,” he said.
The former Big Brother presenter admitted he has previously taken jobs he isn’t so proud of, but he’s excited about his new TV3 gig.
“I’ve done a lot of stuff over the years, not all good stuff, but it’s paid the bills.
“This is exciting though, I love the premis, it’s just a lot of fun. Presenting Big Brother was a great experience, but going into the TV3 show, it’s more fun,” he added.
