BBC announce new character for Line Of Duty’s sixth season

The DCI will be the focus of AC-12's next investigation

BBC One have announced a brand new character for Line Of Duty’s sixth season.

Kelly Macdonald will play the role of Detective Chief Inspector, Joanne Davidson.

Joanne will be the subject of an AC-12 investigation, as her unconventional conduct starts to raise suspicions.

The actress will star as a guest lead alongside season regulars Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar.

Taking to Instagram, BBC One made the announcement.

“Kelly Macdonald will star as a guest lead in the next series of Line Of Duty,” they wrote.

“She’s playing Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12. Fellas, what exciting news.”

“Series leads Martin Compston , Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar are also confirmed to return.”

Kelly Macdonald is best known for her roles in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Black Mirror and Boardwalk Empire.
