Apres Match back for the World Cup – and will even present match

Apres Match is back for a new series for the World Cup, it has been announced this afternoon.

The RTE comedy series – which is presented by Barry Murphy, Risteárd Cooper and Gary Cooke – will come after evening matches.

And the comedy trio will also present the third place play-off from Brazil on Saturday 12 July.

RTE have also confirmed that it will be the last time Bill O’Herlihy is seen on screens as he presents for the final time.

He will be joined by John Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady are Ronnie Whelan, Didi Hamann, Ossie Ardiles, Kenny Cunningham and Richie Sadlier.

Twenty years after his famous goal against Italy in Giants Stadium, Ray Houghton will co-commentate from Brazil.

And RTE have announced three new panellists, former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, Spurs goalkeeper and former USA international Brad Freidel and Real Madrid coach and former Republic of Ireland under 21 coach Paul Clement.

Fans will also be kept up to date with the latest news and updates from Brazil with live bulletins throughout the day on Radio 1 and 2FM and the final will be broadcast live on RTÉ 2FM.
