Ant McPartlin ‘steps down’ from Britain’s Got Talent

Ant McPartlin will not be taking part in the live shows when Britain’s Got Talent returns.

The TV host, who already took a step back from the final episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway this season, will now also step down from BGT.

ITV released a statement, confirming his TV partner Declan Donnelly will host the live shows alone.

“Dec will be hosting the live shows which for the first time ever are coming from the Hammersmith Apollo while Ant steps down from his TV commitments for now.

“We send Ant all our love. And we know that Dec will do a brilliant job,” station bosses said.

The popular entertainment show returns this Saturday, with Ant appearing in the auditions stages, but once the live shows begin, Dec will be going solo.

Ant’s future in television remains unclear, after he was arrested for drink driving.

The popular TV host was involved in a three-car crash, and was found to have double the alcohol limit in his system.

It’s been a rough year for the I’m A Celebrity host, after completing a stint in rehab for a prescription drug addiction, and splitting from his wife Lisa Armstrong.
