For our very first Woman Crush Wednesday we chatted to Tipperary Model Aoife Walsh.
Why We’re Crushing
This red-head has become one of Ireland’s top models in the space of just two years.
After winning Miss Ireland Aoife has constantly been in the limelight for her modelling work, including a stunning campaign she shot for Newbridge Silverware.
She was nominated for Top Model at The Gossies 2016, and we can see her career continuing to rise this year.
Goss.ie: So how you go into the industry?
Aoife:Â “I won miss Ireland in 2013 but previous to that I was a student in Trinity College and working as a secondary school teacher, having never modelled before. funnily enough I wanted to enter miss Ireland because it was on my bucket list and never imagined I would actually win.
“But I did, I believe it was faith and it was meant to happen to me. After that I really wanted to work hard and make a real go at a modelling career, so for the last 2 years iv been driven in perfecting my craft and thankfully have landed numerous national campaigns in the process.”
Goss.ie:Â What is a normal working week like for you?
Aoife: “A normal week in always different and that’s one thing I love about my job. It would normally consist of modelling, TV presenting and going to fashion events.
“I work a lot with TV3 so I would usually have a Xpose slot or I head out to the studios to film live in Ireland Am. I might then mix things up a bit with either a magazine shoot, a presscall or fashion show.
“I also film every week with my show Dublin County Matters on Irish TV. So I’m usually out on location filming where I meet new people and hear their stories every week. My show airs on Sky channel 191 every Thursday.
“I might head along to some beauty or fashion events that I’m interested in and they are usually packed with friends, fun and yummy food.”
Goss.ie:Â How do you stay in shape and stay healthy?
Aoife:Â “I’m so lucky to be blessed with a high metabolism so I can basically eat whatever I want and never put up a pound. And thank god for that because I have the biggest sweet tooth, I literally must have chocolate every day.
“But I live near the beach so I love to go for walks and think it’s really important to eat well not only for my skin, hair but for my mental health and well-being.”
Goss.ie: What’s your go to beauty product?
Aoife: “My go to beauty product is probably my gold fever extensions that I get applied by Ceira Lambert. I’m literally obsessed with them and I always get so many compliments on my hair.
“The extensions are such good quality and being a redhead it’s really important for the colour match to be correct and for them to look natural and the gold fever hair is perfect for that.”
Goss.ie:What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Aoife: “Probably my phone. It was broken for a full week a few months back and I was literally using pay phones to contact people.
“I felt like I was living in the Stone Age it was awful.”
Goss.ie: What is your big dream?
Aoife: “I feel I’m already living my dream.
“I’m just being happy in what I’m doing in my life and get to experience different jobs, travel and make great friends. I think it’s so important to be grateful in all you have achieved already.”
Goss.ie:Â What advice do you have for people getting into the industry?
Aoife: “One piece of advice I would give to keep knocking on doors and not to be afraid to really put yourself out there.
“Cracking the modelling industry is never going to happen overnight and is really down to hard work, determination and sometimes a bit of luck thrown in for good measure. But if it’s something you really want to do never give up on that dream.”
