Thalia Heffernan: 'Models in Australia were HORRIBLE – they all saw me as competition'

Model Thalia Heffernan has told how it was horrible working in Australia – as all the other girls were horrible.

The Dubliner was Down Under for three months as she worked on boosting her name in Oz.

However Thalia, 19, said she found it to be a much harder environment than expected – but was unable to be mean back.

“It’s not the most friendly environment. The models don’t care for you that much. A lot of them just regard you as competition,” she said.

“I’m very friendly, maybe a bit too much sometimes, and they don’t know how to react when I bound into a room and they are intimidated by me for the wrong reasons.

“I tried being a cow, too, but it was too hard.”

And Thalia did find that working in Australia was a totally different experience to modelling in Dublin.

She said: “It’s just different, I just feel that the modelling world in Ireland is such a comfortable scene for me because I know everyone and I’ve my regular clients and stuff.

“I do have regular clients in Australia as well but you miss the girls and having the same people around.

“I have a close relationship with a lot of people in the industry now so it’s quite funny when you miss it and you come back, you want to see your work friends as well.”

But Thalia told the Herald she is ready for success around the world – after gaining five agents across the globe.

She said: “It’s about a month and a half since I got back, so I’m getting back into the swing of things and seeing every- one again and I’m working with all my regular people again and it’s great, I love it.

“I’m with Premier in London, Ford in New York, London Management in Sydney and I have another agency in Germany so anything could happen.

“In terms of travelling, it’s always on the cards for me. So, God only knows where I’ll be next week.”
