The theme was Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

The most stylish people in the world hit the red carpet for the most fashionable night of the year.

Yes the Met Gala returned on Sunday night and it didn’t disappoint.

Stars were told to follow the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, and oh were the outfits heavenly.

Take a look at the big looks from the night:

This may be the look of the night – she followed the theme and she still showed off her heavenly body…it’s Rihanna.

RiRi went all out, and looked as if she’d just popped out of the Vatican when she arrived to the NYC event.

The Queen of Vogue, and creator of the Met Ball, Anna Wintour arrived in timely fashion.

The fashion boss was first to arrive on the red carpet, alongside her daughter Bee, who stunned in a long red gown.

Anna wore Chanel (of course) as she posed for photos at the annual fashion gala.

Amal and George Clooney

Amal and George Clooney were the first (and our favourite) couple of the night.

Amal, who played Co-Host for the night, stunned in this long Richard Quinn gown. She surprised everyone when she turned around, to show the gown actually turned into a pants suit design at the front.

Her other-half, and father to their twins, George, looked dashing as always.

Lili Reinhart

Our favourite Riverdale star got her first ever invite to the Met Gala this year, and she’s killing it.

The actress, who plays Betty Cooper in the hit show, truly pulled off the Princess look.

How fitting for the biggest ball in all the land….

To top things off it looks like Lili and her co-star Cole Sprouse chose the Met Gala to confirm their off-screen romance.

Lili wore a specially made silver gown from H&M.

Rita Ora

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth was the first star to really take the theme to heart.

The actress went all out in this very religious number, almost right off a shelf from the Vatican itself.

Bella Hadid

Katherine Langford
