New Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes: 'The competition is about personality, not looks'

She was crowned the most beautiful woman in Ireland when she won the Miss Ireland title, but Jessica Hayes says the competition is actually about personality.

The Cork beauty, who had to strut her stuff in a bikini on the night, has said she believes she won for her brains.

“It’s about personality. People think it’s a competition about looks, but there were such amazing girls in the competition; smart, hard-working, and dedicated.

“It’s not about looks at all, it’s basically about passion,” she said.

Speaking to the Sunday World Jessica said entering the competition really helped boost her confidence.

“It has really brought me out of my shell. I had to overcome the fear of walking down a runway in a bikini,” she said.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I am ignoring the nasty remarks and I’m just being positive.”
