TV3 star Sinead Desmond has told how her dream is coming true – by getting to perform the routine from Dirty Dancing.
The Ireland AM presenter is doing the 1980s dance as part of charity event Strictly For Breast Cancer, with partner Kamal Ibrahim.
But Sinead told Goss.ie that it hasn’t been easy in practice sessions – as her normal dancing abilities are drunkingly “shaking my bum” on a Saturday night.

She told Goss.ie: “Except for shaking my bum on a dance floor drunkenly on a Saturday night I’ve never really done dancing so it’s all new to me.
“I’m doing the Dirty Dancing dance which is a dream for any woman who was 15 in the 1980s – unfortunately though we’re not practising in a lake, which would’ve been very cool.
“Kamal is my partner and we’re doing the lift and everything. I’m a little nervous about it – I don’t mind performing because I do that on TV every day, but I’m nervous to properly dance.
“Although the choreographers are amazing and it is a good challenge, with lots of room to improve. I’m pathetically excited about it.”
TV husband: Sinead is loving Mark being back | BRIAN MCEVOY
Meanwhile, Sinead added that she is loving being in Ireland AM at the moment after a show refresh.
She said: “They’ve put buckets of cash into the show and it’s nice to be rewarded with a new TV3 set and they’ve gone all out.
“It’s great having Mark Cagney back too – I loved Anton and we got on well, but it’s lovely to have Mark back.
“Everyone asks if I see myself staying there long term and until I get bored I’ll be there. It’s difficult to get bored, we get to cover such a range of topics.”
