EXCLUSIVE! Amanda Brunker hits out at Miss Ireland for NOT hosting bikini round

Amanda Brunker has admitted that she thinks it’s odd that Miss Ireland have removed the bikini round from the competition.

The novelist revealed to Goss.ie, at the Etihad Airways International Charity Lunch and Fashion Show in aid of the Rape Crisis Centre, that she was shocked by the decision.

“I think it’s an odd one that they’re not doing the swimwear,” she said.

The 42-year-old was crowned Miss Ireland in 1991 and went on to compete in Miss World that year.

“I didn’t have a problem with doing it, but I was 17 when i won Miss Ireland,” she told Goss.ie.

“I was a skinny little thing, I was boobs on legs so I didn’t mind going down to my smalls.

“Let’s be honest, beauty competitions are cattle calls – they always have been,” she said.

Amanda also admitted that she thinks Miss Ireland is becoming more and more like the Rose of Tralee – which may not be a bad thing.

“Maybe it’s going more of an ambassador role and that’s fair enough but it sounds more like it’s turning into a Rose of Tralee kind of competition.

“Maybe it’s progress, maybe it’s a good thing. It just seems like it’s turning more into a Lovely Girls competition,” she added.

Amanda was speaking at the Etihad Airways International Charity Lunch and Fashion Show for the Rape Crisis Centre.
