'What a ledge!' – Ed Sheeran starts a NEW Irish bromance with Rory McIlroy

He’s practically Irish already – being best mates with Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid and wanting to live here when he settles down.

And now Ed Sheeran has struck up a bromance with Irish golf pro Rory McIlroy.

The Give Me Love singer has just finished up his Irish tour dates, after entertaining thousands at the Three Arena, but it seems he needed some more Irish people in his life.

Sharing this picture on Instagram Ed wrote:

“Thanks to Rory for being so sweet to my wee Granny. What a ledge.”

And in true social networking etiquette Rory replied almost immediately on Twitter, writing: “My pleasure! Sweet lady”

Ed has been raving about all things Irish lately, including his secret obsession with RTE drama Love/Hate.

The singer was over the moon when Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy gave him a signed box set of the crime series during an interview last week.

And recently Ed left Wicklow singer Hozier “ridiculously flattered” when he covered his hit song Take Me To Church.
