Shane Filan has broken his silence following the death of his mother Mae.
Taking to Twitter, the star shared a statement with fans thanking them for their messages.
Shane said that the day of her death was the “saddest day” of his life.

“Yesterday, Sunday 15 th of December was the saddest day of my life,” he began.
“My mother Mae who was an incredible beautiful woman, wife, mother, grandmother & friend passed away peacefully surrounded by all her family. I’d like to say thank you to everyone for all your well wishes at this time.”
“To all the fans for all your support & lovely messages. Thank you.”
In thanking fans for their support, he also asked for them to respect the family’s private funeral.
“Her funeral is a very private time for me and my family to grieve and I know you all understand and will respect that.”
The 43-year-old asked fans to make a donation to Sligo North West Hospice if they wanted “to do something in her memory.”
“If you would like to do something in her memory you can make a small donation to Sligo North West Hospice who looked after her so beautifully and peacefully in her final days and will continue to do so for so many more families. Thank you.”
Shane signed the statement with love, from him and his family.
“Love always, Shane & Family.”
Shane’s mother Mae, originally from Mayo, passed away yesterday in Sligo.
The funeral is set to take place tomorrow, Tuesday 17th December.
