Nicola Coughlan has revealed that her impression of Nadine Coyle on Popstars helped her land a role in Channel 4’s Derry Girls.
The actress appeared on The Late Late Show last night alongside her cast mates, and recalled the moment she re-enacted Nadine’ famous passport gaffe during her audition.
Nicola said: “The only person I could think of from Derry was Nadine Coyle, and the only thing I could think of was her losing her passport on Popstars.”
“I also delivered that speech verbatim in the audition. Like no one wanted me to do it, but you know when you’re nervous?”
Ryan then asked Nicola to do her impression live on air, and then compared it to the original clip.
The chat show host concluded that Nicola’s impression was actually better than the original, so no wonder it helped land her role in Derry Girls.
