WATCH: Niall Horan reveals how his career has affected his love life

The former 1D star has been in the public eye since he was 16

Niall Horan has revealed how his music career has affected his love life.

The Mullingar native shot to fame in X Factor-created band One Direction when he was just 16, and has been living a pretty crazy life ever since.

Since One Direction went on hiatus in 2016, Niall has launched his own successful solo career, and he recently sat down for an intimate interview with Eoghan McDermott for his RTÉ special ‘Niall Horan with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra’.

In the interview, Niall said, “Being in a relationship when you’re 18 or 19 is hard enough anyway, because it’s your whole world but when you have such a demanding job and you’re not in the same place as that person at the time, it can be quite tough and I’ve learned to deal with it better than I used to.”

“I used to find it really frustrating and who knows what could have happened in previous relationships if I wasn’t doing the same thing, but at the same time, if I didn’t get to travel the world I wouldn’t have got to meet these people – it’s kind of a give and a take. The job can be quite demanding on your personal life, but then again I wouldn’t have written these songs if it wasn’t for it!”

Niall Horan with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra airs this Saturday 12 May at 6.55pm on RTÉ One.

The special one-off show sees the singer-songwriter and his band joined by 45 members of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra as they perform a selection of songs from Niall’s debut solo No.1 album ‘Flicker’, with special arrangements by conductor Gavin Murphy.

The musical treat was recorded in RTÉ’s iconic Radio Studio 1 last month and features an exclusive interview with Niall by 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott.
