He’s making a name for himself in Hollywood with roles in TV series Ray Donovan and the Baywatch movie but Cathal Pendred isn’t forgetting his roots.
The former MMA fighter is lending his star appeal to independent Irish movie, Cardboard Gangsters, written and directed by Mark O’Connor.

O’Connor co-wrote the movie with Love/Hate star John Connors, who also takes on the lead role as Jaythe, the head of a gang of drug dealers attempting to take control of an area of North Dublin controlled by Jimmy Smallhorne’s Derra.
And Cathal and fellow UFC fighter Nathan Kelly have filmed cameo appearances.

Since leaving the world of MMA Cathal has invested in a franchise of popular Dublin food chain Chopped as well as setting his sights on the acting world.
Cathal quit in 2015, claiming he had lost his passion for the sport.
