Twink has said that she “was the judge on the pilot” episode of Dancing with the Stars ten years ago.
The 67-year-old revealed that she was originally tested on the panel for the judging slot, which is now held by Loraine Barry.
“I was Loraine for the pilot. I was the judge on the pilot about ten years ago. Gloria Hunniford was the host and they asked me would I do the full series and I said no!” she told The Irish Sun.
“I’m too much of a smart arse and I like to know everything and there are better qualified people than me for this job.”
Twink also revealed that she suggested Loraine should take on the role: “And I said there is a girl called Loraine Barry who would be perfect.”
“But the producers said, ‘But weren’t you a champion Latin ballroom dancer in Ireland for two years?’ And I said, ‘Yes — when I was 12!’ I think Loraine has been doing it a bit longer and more recently. When I came to the show last year, Loraine was wearing the most amazing dress so I said that dress is going home with me!”
“Later I was out on the car park and Loraine came out with the dress and gave it to me. So I brought her up two little dancing shoes (on Sunday night) as a gift.”
The mother-of-two added that Brian Redmond was on the judging panel for the pilot as well: “Brian Redmond was one of the pro dancers on the pilot. How cool is that? I wished them all the best.”
