Top blogger Joanne Larby breaks silence on social media after splitting from boyfriend

The influencer has moved home from London

Joanne Larby has broken her silence on social media, after she told her followers that she was moving back to Ireland – just weeks after she moved into a new home in London with her boyfriend Paul Standell.

The influencer, known as The Makeup Fairy, moved to London after she started dating fitness coach Paul Standell.

The pair had an extremely public romance, with Joanne sharing videos and photos of Paul on her social media pages, her blog, and featured him in her vlogs.

However, after unfollowing Paul across all her social media accounts, Joanne has now confirmed that their relationship is over.

Speaking through tears on Snapchat, Joanne said, “I have been dreading doing this Snapchat all day, but I want to get it over with because it’s stupid letting a social media thing have a power over me.”

“I wanted to come on here to say thank you so much for all of your kind messages over the past week and for giving me the respect of a human over a really difficult time, and not treating me like a blogger. So that’s that.

“So I’m sure most of you have gathered by now that I’ve moved back to Ireland, and there’s plenty of speculation online as to why that is, and I can appreciate that so many of you were really, really worried and also just very upset for me because nobody in their right mind would move into a new home in London and then move home a week and a half later unless it was something very serious.

“I’m not going to be divulging any details, I’m not in my relationship anymore. Out of respect for myself and that person, I won’t be talking about why that relationship is over, why I had to move home so suddenly, etc.”

“Where possible I’m always as transparent as I can be as a blogger, but I also have to protect myself and everybody has a chapter that they don’t read out loud. Just out of respect for my own dignity, there’s no gossip, there’s no news,” she explained.

“This is as much as I’m talking about it just out of, I suppose, being kind to you all for sending me messages and wanting to know and I’m sure you invested time into following me and what I was sharing and I don’t regret any of that because you share when you’re happy in moments, and that is true for all of us.

“None of us are exempt from pain, so no matter how much you think your life is going to pan out, it can change in an instant. And so I’m going to do what I do best which is immerse myself in work.

“I’ve got a really busy week, and from a career point of view, Ireland is where I’m most busy. London was very hard, I found it very isolating and very lonely, it obviously looked fab on social media and I made the most of it while I was over there, but it’s very hard to make it over there.

“I was a tiny fish in a huge pond versus here in Ireland, and so from a career point of view and from happiness in terms of my friends and family, I missed Ireland a lot. And so, yeah, it was not an easy decision, but it was the right decision for me on a few different fronts to come home to Ireland, it’s just better for me as an individual.”

“So hopefully you can appreciate that I’ll be dipping in and out of social media over the next while, most of what I’ll be posting will be work related so you’ll see a lot of #ad or #sp because that’s what I want to focus on now, which is work, the personal side I’m still dealing with, I’m still processing quite a traumatic situation and moving country and all that s**t, so I’m going to be doing that while working as best I can.

“So hopefully I can put a line under it now, I’m sure people will still be chatting and speculating because that’s just the nature of this industry and I understand that, but from a respectful point of view I really appreciate how lovely you have all been and I won’t be saying another word about this situation.

“People keep asking and asking me, but I’m not going to be answering beyond this.

“I had two choices, I could come on with a ring light and hearts around my head as a filter, which is quite ironic, or I could have shaved my head like Britney and start making memes that could circulate of me hitting a car with an umbrella because I’ve lost my mind, so I went with the former,” Joanne added.
