Today FM release statement after Al Porter accused of ‘sexual misconduct’

Al Porter has been accused of “sexual misconduct”, prompting Today FM to release a statement.

The comedian, who hosts his own talk show on Today FM as well as TV3’s Blind Date, has received several accusations both online and through The Irish Times.

A spokesperson for Today FM said representatives of the station had spoken to comedian Al about the allegations.

“Today FM has spoken with Al Porter and his management team concerning these online comments.”

“We take any comments of this nature extremely seriously. Likewise, we take the welfare of our presenters and staff extremely seriously. Today FM is not commenting any further at this time.”

The Ireland edition of The Times have reported that Al has been accused of “sexual misconduct” by a number of fellow performers, and that issues we raised with Today FM management regarding “unsolicited sexual messages” he allegedly sent over Facebook.

According to the report Al sent the messages to a musician earlier this year, after the performer’s Irish band appeared on the station.

Four comedians told The Times that they had been touched inappropriately by the Blind Date host at shows over the past five years.

Davey Reilly, 27, who has starred in shows on RTÉ, BBC and MTV, said that his behaviour was an “open secret” and claimed he “put his hands down the back of my jeans” during an incident back in 2014.

So far Al is yet to comment on the allegations.
