The Gossies 2016: Behind The Scenes

Our first ever awards show The Gossies, sponsored by Enhance Medical and in association with UTV Ireland, took place on Sunday night in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Stillorgan, and the event went down a hit!

From Twink renaming the event to ‘The Gassies’ because of the craic that was had, to our amazing hostess Vogue Williams working the room – it was a fantastic night all round and we couldn’t be happier with the success of our very first awards show.

A lot went into planning The Gossies, so we’re going to give you a behind the scenes look at how the day played out as we unhooked the red rope and welcomed Ireland’s famous faces to walk the red carpet.

Getting Ready

Gossies My Pucker Set up

Before the madness occurred, the Goss Gals had to get prepared for the big night.

Thanks to My Pucker, who literally brought beauty to our door in the form of the Pucker Pamper Palace, we got our hair and makeup done by their team of incredible professionals.

As well as the Goss team, the Pucker ladies beautified some of our celebrity guests including Maria Walsh, Anna Daly, Lucy Kennedy, and Aoife Walsh among others.

We want to say a huge thank you to all the MyPucker team, especially co-founders Louise Dunne and Niamh McHugh for making getting ready for The Gossies an incredibly enjoyable experience. Check them out at www.mypucker.com.

During the rush of getting ready before setting up for the big event, we were kindly fed by Domino’s Ireland who delivered us custom Gossies pizzas, including The Vogue Legend, which was thoroughly enjoyed (inhaled) by all the ladies in the Pucker Palace.

Setting Up

After we had our makeup done, our hair set in rollers (glam) and we were nicely fed – it was time to get our skates on and set up.

First of all, we want to say a huge thank you to the amazing Brendan Scully, Seán Montague and their team for co-ordinating the show and setting up the sound and the visuals – we couldn’t have done it without you.

A big part of setting up was of course creating our fabulous goodie bags, which contained some incredible treats including skincare luxuries from Enhance Medical, Å koda’s Simply Clever Survival Kit, gorgeous products from Cocoa Brown and discount and voucher treats from MyPucker, Lauryn Rose, Roxluna Jewellery, Buff Day Spa and Dresses.ie.

Once the goodie bags were handled, the room was set up with decorations and fun features.

The selfie and photo attraction of the night was definitely our incredible GOSS sign, thanks to Lovin Letters, as well as our photo booth complete with fun props with thanks to shootbooth.ie.

To keep our celeb guest’s sweet tooth satisfied, Jens Couture Cakes put on an incredibly display of cute cake treats – that definitely looked just as good as it tasted!

Close to the end of setting up, the UTV Ireland crew arrived to prep for filming with the stunning Jenny Buckley – all the footage from The Gossies will air in a special segment on The Pulse this Friday on UTV Ireland.

Getting Glam

Ali Ryan Gossies Awards 2016

What’s an awards show without a gown?

Hosting our first awards show, we certainly needed to dress to impress – so here is what we wore.

Our CEO and Editor Ali Ryan wore a custom-made dress by the insanely talented Eamonn McGill, paired with some stunning pieces from Tower Jewellers.

Our Deputy Editor Lisa McLoughlin and our Entertainment Reporter Kendra Becker opted for glam gowns thanks to MacDoll Boutique.

And let’s not forget about our Goss Guy Mr Sean O’Grady who was suited and booted in a tux from Aston Formal.

Getting Started

Skoda Red Carpet Gossies 2016

As Å koda Ireland kindly chauffeured our celeb guests to the Radisson Blu Stillorgan, we rolled out the red carpet to officially kick off The Gossies 2016.

As stars lined the red carpet to be snapped, some chatted to Jenny Buckley for UTV Ireland and went on to enjoy a tasty Prosecco reception with thanks to Aldi Ireland.

Once the guests had their fill of prosecco, they headed down to the ballroom to be seated for the ceremony, but not without taking some fun photo booth snaps beforehand.

The Show

The Show - the Gossies 2016

As guests were seated and treated to a three course meal paired with wine from Blossom Hill, the show started with our fabulous host Vogue Williams kicking off the awards.

Guest presenters, including Maria Walsh, Marissa Carter, Brendan Courtney and many more, announced the winners of each Gossies category and the winners gave their speeches.

During, in between and after the awards was full of laughter and fun, with Mary Byrne finishing off an amazing night by belting out four songs – showing off that incredible voice we all know and love.

After the show, guests got a few more drinks in before heading to Lillies Bordello for a star studded after party, lets just say there should be a lot of sore heads on Monday morning!
