Shane Filan has opened up about his time in band Westlife, and gave fans an insight into what led to the big split back in 2012.
Appearing on the Nathan Carter Show last night on RTE One, Shane admitted that him and his bandmates Kian Egan, Markus Feehily, and Nicky Byrne weren’t enjoying it anymore.
“It was a very sad time. It was something that we knew was coming for a while because deep down we genuinely weren’t enjoying it as much as we were,” he told Nathan.

The two time Brit Award winning pop group enjoyed huge success both here and across Europe, Africa and Asia.
“We always said we’d go out at the top, no matter when that was, we said that three or four years in,” Shane continued.
“We got ten more years and we went out at Croke Park, [that’s] as good as you can do it.
Shane, who continued on as a solo artist after the split, performed his hit This I Promise You on the show, later joining Nathan for a duet singing You Raise Me Up.
