Shane Filan finally sells mansion – for a massive €200,000 below asking price

Former Westlife star Shane Filan is set to finally sell his Sligo mansion – at nearly €200,000 below the asking price.

The Sligo singer was forced to put his property at Castledale, in Carraroe up for sale after the collapse of his property empire left him bankrupt and owing the banks €23million.

But Shane – who had been asking for €990,000 – appears to have agreed a sale for just €800,000.

The property cost the Flying Without Wings star, who now lives in the UK with his wife Gillian, a massive €3million to build in 2004.

And the €800,000 deal it is a massive drop from the €10million a businessman offered Shane, 33, at the height of the boom.

Sources told The Sligo Champion that a high-profile buyer from overseas had agreed at a deal at just over €800,000.

It has now been removed from online property websites. Auctioneer David Reynolds, of Gunne Reynolds, said: “We had good interest in it and there were a couple of bidders.”

Shane’s former home, which is located less than 500m from the main Sligo to Dublin road, contains six massive bedrooms and five bathrooms.

It also has a large snooker room, conservatory and two living rooms – as well as a separate dining room with an open fireplace and a bar and entertainment lounge over the whole of the second floor.

The entire 9,500 sq ft house is surrounded by trees and walls, and has electronically-controlled gates as well as a specially-designed golfing area – including its own bunker.
