Saoirse Ronan nabs Oscar nomination for Lady Bird

The nominees have finally be announced

After winning her first Golden Globe earlier this month, Saoirse Ronan has been nominated for an Oscar for her role in Lady Bird.

The nominees for the 90th Academy Awards were finally announced at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater today by actors Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) and Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings).

The actual Oscars ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre on March 4 in Los Angeles, where comedian Jimmy Kimmel return to reprise his role as Oscars host.

This is Saoirse’s third Oscar nomination – she was previously nominated for her role in Brooklyn back in 2016, and was nominated for her part in Atonement back in 2008.

The actress is up for the Best Actress gong, and is up against Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) and Meryl Streep for (The Post).
