Ryan Tubridy won't be forced into marrying wannabe bride Aoibhinn

Ryan Tubridy has insisted he won’t be forced to marry Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain – even if she is in a hurry to wed.

The Late Late Show presenter’s girlfriend revealed at the weekend that she wants to be a bride within the next 10 years.

But Tubs, 40, who was married once before, is in no hurry to get down on one knee and propose.

He said: “I think she is a woman that knows her own mind, and I think I’m a man who knows his own mind.

“I keep myself to myself in that department. Any discussions on that will be kept for the people at the centre of it.”

Speaking at the weekend, Aoibhinn said that tying the knot in the next 10 years “would be nice” and that “every girl can see themselves as being a bride at some stage”.

Geek at heart: Tubridy meeting with youngsters at the BT Young Scientist exhibition

Meanwhile at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, Tubridy insisted he will never go head-to-head with rival Today FM host Ray D’Arcy for the full three hours he’s on 2fm in the mornings.

He said: “It’s never been done before and there’s a reason for it – with the chat show on the Friday night you’re in there until one, two, three in the morning essentially.

“And then you’re up at six every day. Three hours on top of that, it just would be huge. Three hours on air doesn’t mean that you’re in work for three hours.

“There’s a lot of work before the show, a lot of work after the show. I don’t see that being an option at the moment.”
