Ruth Negga and Sing Street both nominated for ANOTHER major award

Ruth Negga has landed ANOTHER Best Actress nomination for her role in Loving, while Irish-made film Sing Street has nabbed a nod for Best Soundtrack at the 2017 Empire Awards.

Ahead of the much-anticipated Academy Awards on February 26, in which Ruth is nominated for Best Actress for the same role, the Irish-Ethiopian actress has been nominated for an Empire Award alongside, Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Natalie Portman (Jackie), Emma Stone (La La Land) and Amy Adams (Arrival).

Meanwhile Sing Street, which was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, will go up against La La Land, The Greasy Strangler, Arrival and Moana for the Best Soundtrack gong.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story received an astonishing nine nominations for this year’s Empire Awards, which are voted for by the public.

Empire’s Editor-in-Chief Terri White said, “This year has once again seen the fans out in force to vote for their favourite films in the Three Empire Awards.”

“Which is why we are the only awards ceremony in the world to recognise Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story alongside La La Land and Arrival!”

The Empire Awards will take place on March 19 in London.
